August Moon is a women's boutique located in the East Passyunk neighborhood of Philadelphia.
August Moon Co. originated as a handmade jewelry brand, founded as a hobby-turned-side biz in 2017 by Kristina Gaglianese. Her delicate designs using gemstones and 14k gold-filled materials were predominately sold online, while Kristina simultaneously worked a full time job in corporate fashion. In the Summer of 2021, she was presented with an opportunity to open a Brick and Mortar boutique in Philadelphia - a lifelong dream of hers. After working in the fashion industry for years - both at corporate & small business levels - she decided to take the leap, leave her 9-5 job, and put her full heart and soul into her own business. August Moon Co. evolved and became a full women's clothing boutique, in addition to housing her handmade jewelry line.

Our Buying Philosophy
Our philosophy behind Apparel Buying is to curate an assortment that is versatile + neutral, while still unique + on trend:
✦ We follow trends, but don't chase every single one.
✦ We pay attention to seasonality, but don't believe you should have entirely separate wardrobes.
✦ We choose occasion-wear with intention, and encourage you to get creative + find different ways to wear those items, because we don't believe you should have garments in your closet that you only wear once.
Additionally, we carry brands that match our own values - often those with smaller batch production, with a handful that are committed to domestic or more sustainable manufacturing, offering only pre-order collections so that only what is demanded is produced, avoiding excess. As you will often see, we usually are unable to restock a style that sells out, as it was most likely pre-booked and no longer available from our vendor to ship to us. This keeps inventory in the boutique fresh, a little more exclusive & special, and more thoughtfully curated as we try to do our part in minimizing overproduction in the fashion industry.
We also look for brands that are women or minority owned or operated, and/our support smaller communities, charitably or socially. While not every brand can check each box, we feel we have curated a special selection of brands and products that reflect at least one of our core values. Supporting other small businesses is one of our top priorities!
